AutoBuilders construction projects types include all the major automotive dealership brands from Audi, Mercedes, Porsche, Ferrari, Ford, Chevrolet, Jeep, and many more brands, and also the multi-brand locations such as AutoNation and CarMax. AutoBuilders has an affiliated management relationship with Quest Contracting that builds equally appealing buildings for the retail-focused commercial construction industry that includes spaces for hospitality, multi-family housing, retail, QSR, industrial flex-space, and many more facilities types.

We are looking for a world-class Project Executive to manage a portfolio of construction projects and project managers for both businesses from our West Palm Beach, FL headquarters location. While much work can be done from our headquarters location, the Project Executive position does require travel and the ability to visit portfolio construction sites, clients, and key stakeholders as needed.

Project Executive

AutoBuilders / Quest Contracting (hereafter AutoBuilders/Quest) has an immediate opening for an outstanding Project Executive to lead and manage multiple construction project management operations primarily for our East coast projects from our Headquarters in West Palm Beach, FL. The Project Executive will also Indirectly participate in the management of all projects in the Texas and California regions   The Project Executive will report to the COO and is responsible for overall project P&L responsibility for assigned projects.  The Project Executive will be the point person on the team (Project Manager and Superintendent) for the client.  The Project Executive will supervise Direct Reports – Project Managers, Superintendents, Warranty Carpenter, Permit Expediter and Indirect Reports – Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, Project Administrators.

The Project Executive directly manages a growing portfolio of approximately $100 million in construction projects of typical sized from $5 million to $12 million.  Ideally, for this Project Executive leadership position, we are looking for a seasoned Construction Professional that has complete knowledge of the construction process and the ability to proactively manage challenges so that they do not become future problems. The Project Executive will primarily be managing the current growing book of business; however, a Project Executive that also has the ability to develop new business would be a plus. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Initiation & Planning:
Review invitations to bid and provide CEO and COO recommendation to pursue based on “Go or No-Go” criteria.  Oversee the scope and objectives of the project and outline opportunities and risks.  Oversee completion of the necessary design and pre-construction processes including staging and logistics plans, schedules and work plans to produce a final Project Plan.  Approve all changes and value engineering recommended by Pre-construction and Project Management staff during the planning process.

Project Budget, Costing & Resources:
Oversee financial budgets to evaluate project viability and analyze/forecast cost estimate data for project budgets.  Oversee project-related budgets to ensure accurate documentation outlining the cost and scope of projects, staffing requirements, and engagement of consultants and subcontractor scopes are developed in a consistent and accurate manner.  Oversee bidding and procurement requirements or request for proposals and review and oversee the qualification of vendor bids. Oversee all project contracts including consultants, subcontractors, etc.  Approve all subcontractor selections for project award recommended by the project management team.

Project Monitoring:
Oversee the day-to-day operational and tactical aspects of assigned projects. Oversee the project team to manage the scope, layout, design and other criteria regarding the project to ensure all project requirements are understood and implemented. Oversee contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers etc. during all phases of the project.  Oversee project activities to ensure each project phase is progressing on schedule and within prescribed financial parameters to ensure project profitability.

Project Communication:
Oversee project teams and client to manage day-to-day interactions. Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork, collaboration and build lasting relationships.  Facilitate team meetings for purposes of project planning, communicating project information, status updates and to address issues in a timely fashion. Resolve and/or escalate to COO issues in a timely manner and communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.

Project Integration:
Oversee standards and procedures for project planning, design, reporting, decision making, and documentation. Provide oversight and evaluate subcontractors ensuring adherence to project safety and quality standards and addressing issues as necessary.

Relationship Management:
Establish constructive ongoing relationships with local city and county representatives who have oversight and approval rights for our projects.
•    Provide leadership in business judgment and in all financial and profitable aspects of projects 
•    Participate extensively to acquire and define projects and develop budgets that will achieve profitability objectives taking into account project-specific challenges
•    Set appropriate milestones and assign staff qualified to handle the scope and complexity of the project
•    Work closely with clients, owners, architects and subcontractors to develop relationships that exceed client expectations
•    Provide oversight in managing all necessary resources throughout the entire project from start-up to closeout and ensure that the Owner’s and Autobuilders budget and profitability objectives are met
•    Oversee projects at a high level from beginning to end; including budget updates, cost control and general performance against the project plan
•    Ensure that the day-to-day operations of projects are transitioned effectively to trained and accountable Project Managers 
•    Mentor, train and coach staff to perform to or exceed Autobuilders standards
•    Represent Autobuilders to Owner(s), Architects, Consultants, Government Authorities, Vendors and Subcontractors
•    Lead Business Development efforts and participate in presentations for project acquisitions
•    Attend all scheduled meetings necessary to monitor and manage project profitability
•    Attend owner and project meetings, maintain continuous client contact to gauge performance perceptions and communicate relevant information to the Project Team
•    Ensure Project Management staff is trained according to Autobuilders guidelines
•    Recruit qualified talent; mentor, coach and train them to perform to position requirements

Education and Experience:
•    Bachelor Degree in construction management, engineering operations, architecture, business or other related discipline or equivalent experience 
•    Minimum of fifteen years’ experience in the construction industry
•    Minimum of ten years in the role of Project Manager and have worked as a Project Manager on a minimum of 5 projects
Knowledge and Skills Required:
•    Good written and verbal communication abilities in English
•    PC proficiency to include (but not limited to) Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
with ability to learn company specific software
•    Familiarity with Microsoft Project (and/or other project planning software), MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook, Timberline, Procore, and video conferencing technology. 
•    Knowledge of current trends including LEAN and LEED preferred
•    Thorough knowledge of construction costs, scheduling, estimating, purchasing and engineering principles and techniques, as well as accounting principles
•    Ability to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedules
•    Demonstrate leadership and interpersonal skills
•    Possess good client management and goodwill building ability
•    Capacity to motivate, lead and boost morale of the project team(s)
•    Effective time management and logical decision-making ability
•    Excellent business judgment demonstrated by consistently achieving profitability objectives and strong project close-outs maintaining client and subcontractor relationships in good standing
•    Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail evidenced by a strong command of all applicable contract and legal provisions
•    Ability to constantly multi-task and handle competing priorities between Autobuilders business needs, organizational issues, and sound customer relations
•    A strong sense of urgency and initiative. Able to quickly study and react to complex issues
•    Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to confidently and decisively take action
•    Team Leader with excellent diplomatic and communication skills, able to resolve conflicts effectively in a firm but fair manner

The compensation for this position is industry competitive and includes generous incentive compensation for outstanding performance.
